Exchanges & Refunds

A rail strike in Europe prevented me from fully using my rail pass. Can I get a refund on the unused days?

Train strikes unfortunately happen, which can frustrate many customers. We suggest that you work directly with the railway company when strikes occur to file a claim.

Can I get a refund for unused days on my rail pass?

No, there are no refunds for unused days.

Can I exchange or refund my rail pass while in Europe?

Yes for Eurail passholders a special service can be offered at an Aide Office in the country in which the pass is valid and if they are not able to go back to the original sales point or Issuing agency.   An exchange can be granted when incorrect information is entered by the issuing agency.   In some cases we are able to update the mobile pass directly to update information.

For all other exchange requests please consult directly with the sales outlet or issuing agency:  Most passes are exchangeable for another country or global pass if requests are made prior to using the pass.  These include name changes, class of service or to the number of days.  If there is a rate increase, you will just pay the difference in price plus a USD $25 exchange fee. If the exchange causes a rate decrease, you will be charged a $25 service fee and a refund will be issued for the difference.

My plans have changed and I won't be able to use my rail pass. Can I get a refund?

Eurail passes that have not been used or activated may be returned for a refund. All cancelations will be subject to a 10% fee.  This request must be handled, within 11 months of the issue date.  Email our customer care team at:  support@railpass.com

IMPORTANT: Eurail Free Day and discounted Promotion Passes may not refundable or exchangeable.  Please check the fare rules prior to purchasing.

Can I return my rail pass or train ticket for a refund?

Most rail passes are refundable if unused and not yet activated.   Mobile passes refund requests must be done within one year of the issue date.  There is a 10% cancellation fee applied to all refunds requests.

Train Tickets: Many train tickets are non-refundable and non-changeable. Some train tickets are 75%–80% refundable if canceled within 72 hours after booking.
